Manufacturer: Big Oz
Brand: Big Oz
Big Oz isn't necessarily very big, and definitely isn't Australian but it does specialise in organic and conventional, gluten free cereals for people who care about a healthy diet, keeping their products 100% natural and using the pure whole grain. Big Oz's cereal story started when they came across a product made in Australia that they thought was fabulous. It was pure, organic, gluten free with no added salt, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, naturally cholesterol free, sodium free and low in saturated fat content. The cereal started to sell it in the UK, and so many people wanted it that they started to make it themselves. Now it is all manufactured and packed in the UK - keeping the carbon footprint low and the product quality high. Big Oz is a family-run company, involved with everyone who works with them personally, from the specialist cereal growers whose crops meet the right exacting standards, to the experts who toast, flake or puff the grains, using traditional methods of puffing, flaking and coating to ensure they retain the maximum dietary fibre and nutritional content in the cereal. The company works constantly to improve their cereals and add new products, providing a full range of gluten-free breakfast cereals which means that coeliacs and people choosing a wheat-free diet can now choose a gluten-free alternative to start their day! Buckwheat flakes are made from 100% pure buckwheat and have a mellow, satisfying flavour. Â They are naturally wheat-free and gluten-free. Despite the name, buckwheat is not related to wheat, as it is not a grass. Instead, it is related to sorrel and rhubarb and has been eaten by people from Tibet and northern China for a long time, as wheat can not be grown in the mountain regions. Â A special press made of wood log was built to press the dough into hot boiling water when making buckwheat noodles.
