At R&D 161, hot sauce is more than just a "sauce," it's culture. In fact, we love hot sauce so much that we put it in all of our dishes, so when we couldn't find one that worked with our active and healthy lifestyle, we set out to create our own. With Umami in mind, we worked to develop a hot sauce that not only enhances your eating experience, but leaves you wanting more. In a more health conscious world, we've started to take a closer look at our ingredients, and found that many of the sauces out there contain many chemicals to stabilize and extend shelf life. Our sauce is simple: -Chilies -Garlic -Fermented soybeans -Kombu (dry roasted seaweed) -Oil Why oil?. Vinegar-based hot sauces dominate the mainstream market in the US. However, we feel oil is a great medium to easily infuse any flavors that the oils are marinated in, unlike vinegar with its overpowering taste. We use a blend of healthy oils in our sauce: -Avocado -Grapeseed -Extra virgin olive oil High in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, these oils are rich in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and vitamin E. In addition, oil acts as a preservative, keeping the product shelf stable naturally for a long period of time. Because there is very little to no water, there is very little risk for bacterial growth and spoilage. Our Asian-influenced ingredients, sourced from remote regions near and far, are healthy and of the highest quality. With hints of garlic and exotic spices, the result is a fragrant and authentic hot sauce addition that you can use on any dish.
