Dried Shiitake Mushrooms -4 oz

Pronounced "shee-tah-kay", these exotic, hearty mushrooms are the second most commonly cultivated edible mushroom in the world. Its name derives from the Japanese word meaning "oak fungus" because in Japan these mushrooms are frequently found growing at the base of Japanese oak conifers called "shii trees." Shiitake mushrooms are from the species, Lentinula edodes and are also commonly called sawtooth oak mushroom, black forest mushroom, black mushroom, golden oak mushroom or oakwood mushroom. In Vietnam they're called nam dong co kho or nam huong kho.
