Dried Lobster Mushrooms -4 oz

The Lobster mushroom, Hypomyces lactifluorum, is not really a mushroom, but is actually a parasitic ascomycete fungus that grows on several species of mushrooms. Lobster Mushrooms leave the host mushroom with a fiery reddish orange coating which resembles the color of the outer shell of a cooked lobster (hence the name). This fungus will almost completely engulf the host mushroom while twisting it into odd shapes and leaving the body somewhat rippled, the cap disfigured and the original mushroom pretty much unidentifiable.
