Try Barilla PLUS Penne! Penne is one of the most famous Italian pastas, and is a specialty of the Campania Region in Southern Italy. Barilla PLUS Penne, which means "pen" in Italian, gets its name from its tube shape with angled ends cut to resemble a quill or pen point.

Barilla PLUS Penne has ridges, which allows more sauce to be held. Ridged Penne is designed for meat, vegetable, cheese and oil or butter-based sauces. It is also perfect for baked dishes made with sauce and cheese. Penne all’Arrabbiata– Penne with a spicy tomato sauce– is a favorite Italian dish.

Preparing This Pasta

Cook Barilla PLUS Penne in boiling water for 11 minutes, then drain and serve according to the recipe directions. Boil for an additional minute for a more tender pasta. Due to its higher protein content, Barilla PLUS takes several extra minutes to cook than traditional pasta.
