Shiloh Farms: Red Split Lentils 15 Oz (6 Pack)

Red Split Lentils are very small and most commonly used in Middle Eastern or Indian food dishes. They are generally found hulled and split, revealing their redish-orange coloring. These redish-orange lentils cook up quickly as a result of being small and split. They cook up fairly soft so they work well to thicken soups and to make purees. Lentils cook much faster than dried beans and do not require soaking. The green and brown lentils, hold their shape best after cooking. Lentils have good nutritional value, containing dietary fiber, B-vitamins, protein, and hardly any calories. In 1942 a group of like-minded people gathered on a farm in Western New York and founded the Shiloh Community. Their common goal was to live and work together in health and harmony. To help support themselves and sustain their lifestyle they created a bakery and became known for their hearty, healthy all-natural products. Organic certification had not yet been invented.
