It is produced in Alba, Piemonte, a land known for its extremely high quality hazelnuts, but too expensive to be an ingredient for such a low quality product. BellinaÕs chocolate spreads are made by artisanal producers that only use high quality selected ingredients. All these spreads come from a traditional chocolate product called gianduia. Since the 1800 the chocolate capital of Italy has always been Turin (Piemonte) Ð here in the second half of the 19th century Gianduia was invented. Hazlenuts were used instead of cocoa beans as a lack of the latter during ItalyÕs independence wars. Established in 1850 in the centre of Maglie, in the heart of Salento, Maglio has created an extraordinary heritage of confectionary making.
